TV Channel: Discovery Channel
Having raised more than 20 pets in my life, I have a natural bond with animals. I love watching them on TV, especially Discovery Channel. Part of the reason that I like it so much is because the English they speak is easy to keep up with. Most of the programming is quite entertaining, interesting and educational. I didn’t realise the benefit of watching Discovery Channel until I did my first TOEFL test and found out that I got a high score because Discovery covers most of the topics on the exam. I never knew how much watching TV could help me!
Book on Interior Design:
“Style and Substance, the Best of Elle Décor”, by Margaret Russell
Staying home is boring unless you have a comfortably stylish room to show off to your friends. But how do you make your room fancy without spending too much? Just pick some books on interior design to get some ideas. Then you can pick the style and put a do-it-yourself plan into action. My favourite design book by Margaret Russell has pictures and elaborate explanations, so that I can adopt the style and apply it into my little kingdom.
Movie Website:
Do you need to feed your K-pop addiction? Go to www. Mysoju.com and you’ll see the list of Korean dramas and movies, even the newly released ones! The Web site
also offers mainland Chinese, Hong Kong, Taiwanese and Japanese movies. To me, Mysoju was a close friend while I was studying abroad and had very few friends. You can watch along with English subtitles and learn some funny slang words and terms. It’s so entertaining, believe me! All you need is a high-speed Internet connection.
Materialism:
Canon 7D
Owning a professional camera is so addictive. Once you’ve seen a photo taken with a professional camera, you will definitely want to throw away your point-and-shoot. The Canon 7D is totally cool! The price tag indicates quality and comments from users around the world say that it’s worth the couple thousand dollars. But don’t rush into a purchase too fast. You must have some photography lessons and talent in art to be able to maximise its potential.
News site
I find that since it has become part of my daily routine to read the news, on sites like phnompenhpost.com and dapnews
.com, there has been a major improvement in my understanding of society, and I have also been able to analyse stories that I would otherwise not have known about. I can stay up to date on stories about rape, domestic violence, murder, torture, illegal arrests and detentions, and crackdowns on illegal gambling, karaoke, brothels and massage clubs, all of which are of great concern to our society.
