NOVEMBER 19: Sum Dara, 25, was found hanged from a tree at around 10:00 a.m.
in Phlov Ralous village, Prey Veng province. Police said Dara was angry and committed
suicide as his father had refused to buy a motorbike for him.
NOVEMBER 19: The body of a 29-year-old woman, Tong Ren, was found in a forest
in Russei Chour village, Kampot province. Police suspect Ren was raped and killed
the previous week while returning home from a nearby pagoda where she went to see
a play. Police said the woman died from massive head injuries and her chest was stabbed
twice with a knife.
NOVEMBER 20: Tim Voeun, 58, was knifed to death in a family violence in Pal
Hal village, Pursat province. Police said Voeun was stabbed in the chest by his wife,
Bau Sip, 58, who was arrested for the murder. The woman told police she just defended
herself as her husband tried to beat her with a stick during the argument. She said
Voeun always criticized her mother when he drank.
NOVEMBER 21: A mob killed two suspected thieves after they attempted to steal
a gold necklace at 10:30 a.m. in Tuol Sangke commune, Phnom Penh. Police said the
suspects, Keo Samnang, 25, and his brother, Keo Sok Aun, 20, were stopped and beaten
to death with sticks and rocks after their bike collided with another motorbike while
trying to escape.
NOVEMBER 21: Ream Saroun, 23, died at the provincial hospital after being
knifed while walking home from a dance in Chrouy Sdao village, Battambang province.
Police said three people blocked Saroun and attacked him after an argument at the
dance in the early evening. The assailants later arrested were named as Chap Narth,
19, Seak Pisith, 24, and Yoeun Samnang, 17.
NOVEMBER 22: Two gunmen escaped after robbing a telephone shop in Psar Kandal
1 Precinct, Phnom Penh. The shop owner told police the robbers aimed at him with
two handguns and took six telephones worth $600.
NOVEMBER 22: Panha, 20, was shot dead with a handgun and her friend, El Routhanakneary,
18, was pistol whipped while driving a motorbike at midnight in Doeum Makhloeu village,
Phnom Penh. A witness said Panha was blocked and shot in the head while returning
home from Rasmey Boeng Keng Kang restaurant where she worked every night as a singer.
The witness said the gunmen became angry after Panha screamed at them that "If
you're so strong, shoot me." Police suspect revenge was the motivation of the
killing because the gunmen escaped empty-handed.
NOVEMBER 22: Sao, 30, was beaten to death after being accused of cheating
a motorbike driver at midnight in Wat Phnom precinct, Phnom Penh. A witness told
police Sao persuaded a motodop driver to come with him to a brothel for sex. Sao
left his friend to guard the bike but when the driver came out his bike was stolen.
Sao was stopped and killed by a crowd of people while trying to escape after the
bike owner shouted for help to stop the thief.
NOVEMBER 23: Police are looking for Khan Neang, 37, a military policeman,
who escaped after committing a murder at 2:15 p.m. in Sre Nhor village, Dangkor district,
Phnom Penh. Police said Dith Pisey, 20, was shot in the chest and died instantly
after asking why Neang and his fellow policemen stopped his truck to demand money.
Chak Cham-roeun, 22, was also shot and wounded at the same time.
NOVEMBER 23: A motodop driver, Vang Yea, 42, was murdered during a robbery
in Angkor village, Kampong Cham province. Police said the man was stabbed eleven
times in the neck. Before he died, the victim said a neighbor, Yim Chhunnay, 28,
had killed him and stole his bike. Chhunnay was arrested two days earlier and confessed
to the crimes.
NOVEMBER 24: A 13-year-old boy, Huop Sokong, was murdered with a hoe at 11
a.m. while catching fish at a canal in Tamok village, Battambang province. Police
said the boy was chopped in the neck and his throat cut with the hoe by a 14-year-old
boy, Bun Hiar, who escaped but he was arrested a day later. Police said Hiar was
angry because Sokong caught fish at his lot.
NOVEMBER 24: A cow vendor, Sar Saing, and his son, Saing Trea, were shot dead
in Chrouy Phlong village, Kampong Cham province. Police said Saing was shot six times
and Trea was shot twice with an AK-47 while driving home on a motorbike after returning
from Kanh Chreach district where they sold 16 cows for 27 million riels. The gunmen
collected the cash and escaped.
NOVEMBER 24: Police are looking for a mechanic, Boul, after a murder at 7:25
p.m. in Cham Chao village, on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. Police said Boul escaped
from a guest house after he killed a neighbor during a traffic argument. Chap Kunthear,
22, was stabbed in the stomach with a long screwdriver and he died at a hospital.
NOVEMBER 25: Police arrested one of two suspects, Par Sophan-ith, 47, after
a murder at 8:20 a.m. in Choeung Laung village, Takeo province. Police said the suspects
killed a neighbor, Pen Chan, 47, with a hoe while he was cutting grass for his cows.
Police said the murder was linked with a revenge between the families. Police are
still looking for another suspect.
NOVEMBER 25: Kim Saphoeun, 43, was shot dead in a robbery in Par Peat village,
Svay Reang province. Police said Saphoeun was shot in the chest with an AK-47 by
an unknown man who escaped on his cousin's motorbike. Pheat told police the gunman
robbed him first but he killed Saphoeun after he tried to help him. Pheat was shot
in the groin and sent to the provincial hospital.
NOVEMBER 26: A traffic officer, San Borith, 36, was sent to a hospital after
being severely injured at 7:30 p.m. on Street 214 in Chey Chumnas commune, Phnom
Penh. Police said Borith was chopped in the head with a heavy knife by a motodop
driver, who escaped after the attack. A witness said the motodop driver was angry
after Borith kicked him on the bottom while parking on the busy street.
NOVEMBER 26: A motodop driver, Sour Kimsoeun, 26, was found dead in Prar Som
village, Kampong Cham province. Police said Kimsoeun was stabbed three times in the
back and had his throat cut. Police said robbery was the motive of the killing as
his motorbike had been stolen from the scene. A passer-by said two robbers abandoned
the bike after it ran out of petrol.
NOVEMBER 26: Vin Sony, 26, was arrested after a robbery at midnight in Dam
Ril village, Kampong Cham province. Police said Sony axed a motodop driver, Heng
Hurt, 35, eight times in the head and once in the stomach then stole his bike. The
victim was sent to the provincial hospital.
NOVEMBER 27: Hour Leang, 23, was arrested after committing a rape in Kampong
Svay commune, Kampong Thom province. Police said Leang and his accomplice raped a
17-year-old widow while returning home from Andor Komar pagoda where she went to
see a dance during the Water Festival. Police arrested another rapist, Khim Khan,
24, after trying to escape a day earlier. The woman told police the men knocked her
cousin down, brought her to a nearby forest and then they raped her.
