Get a woman something she will really appreciate: a good bra. If you want to go the extra mile, make it a nice one. Promesses Lingerie in Boeung Keng Kang One sells imported French brands like the delicate Aubade Paris. There’s plenty of fun, with laced-up fronts and frilly bits, but for simple elegance go for the underwired blacks, rouges and girlish whites. Cup sizes go up to E and prices are around $100

Sweet treats

Satisfy your other half’s sweet tooth at The Chocolate Shop. This chocolaterie sells a variety of Valentine’s-themed gifts, including a mug filled with iced biscuits ($9.50), heart-shaped chocolate discs in a range of sizes (from $3.50-$7), chocolate heart-shaped lollipops ($2.50), boxes filled with chocolate hearts in a range of sizes (from $16-$35), and a heart-shaped tin filled with cupcakes for $20.

Flowers

Sometimes, nothing says “I love you” better than a traditional red rose. Find yours at Floral Express on Sihanouk Boulevard for $2 a pop. If you want to go further, the store also offers mixed bunch bouquets for $30. Alternatively, celebrate the natural beauty of Cambodia and buy your loved one a traditional white Angkor Bos flower for $3. Spa specials

Tucked above a street off Riverside, Bodia Spa is a classy and great-smelling haven for relaxation therapy fans. They specialise in organic locally made oils like ginger and lemongrass, and their “in the mood for love” package is particularly indulgent.

The special gives couples a chance to soak in a private tub covered with hundreds of flower petals for up to two hours. It’s pricey, at $125 per person, but includes a complementary bottle of Taittinger champagne and fruit basket as well as several treatments: an aromatherapy massage, a clay wrap and facial.

For those who prefer a hands-on approach only, Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra’s So Spa offers a 60-minute “duo massage” at $115 for two. The couple can choose from a spa list including stone massages and Clarins customised special, using the upmarket French skincare lotions.

Handmade Rings

While they would probably raise eyebrows if used to propose marriage, the rings produced by up-and-coming Cambodian designer Mary Sarath may appeal to ladies with edgy preferences. Produced individually by hand using simple metals and stones, the rings have a bit of a grunge appeal to them.

The “Edgy Plate” ($15) features an intricate collection of small metal circles which are wired down to a stone arrowhead, while the “Alluring Dragon” ($20) has two metal plates stacked on top of each other with a purple stone on top.

Men’s Wallets

Wallets are for storing cash, not losing it. Consequently, spending lots of money to upgrade a wallet sits poorly with some people. But who could complain if the wallet is a gift? For a bit of authenticity in a city rife with cheap counterfeits, check out the leather wallets at New Collection.
