The Embassy of Malaysia in Phnom Penh held a “Merdeka Ride” on the morning of August 30 in celebration of the nation’s 63rd National Day the following day. HE Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Kingdom of Cambodia, led embassy officials, staff and family members, and Malaysians living in the Kingdom on the 22km ride. Made up of 63 participants to represent the 63 years of Malaysian independence, 43 cyclists and 20 motorbike riders rode to Kandal province’s Takhmao town and back, while taking in select locations in the capital. In remarks, the Ambassador hailed the Merdeka Ride for injecting unity, pride, the spirit of patriotism and a love for Malaysia, while encouraging all Malaysians to lead a healthy lifestyle.
