Global digital payment leader Visa on May 12 released its findings on cash usage among Cambodians during the Covid-19 pandemic, which showed a major shift to modern digital payment modes. QR codes, e-wallets and mobile applications emerged as popular for hygienic reasons. The latest “Visa Consumer Payment Attitudes” study showed that 32 per cent of Cambodians stopped using cash as they believe going cashless will make society more hygienic, efficient and environmentally friendly. Visa country manager for Cambodia Monika Chum said: “We are well on our way towards a generational change in how Cambodians choose to pay and be paid, with a growing preference for digital payments.” PHOTOS SUPPLIED
