15 migrants from Thailand get Covid, four recover

The Ministry of Health on Friday confirmed four recoveries and 15 new cases of Covid-19 in Cambodian migrant workers who recently returned from Thailand.

In a press release, the ministry said eight of the 15 live in Battambang province, two each in Takeo and Banteay Meanchey, and one each in Pailin, Kampong Chhnang and Phnom Penh.

The four recovery cases are all Cambodian migrant workers -- three from Pailin province and one from Battambang.

Ministry spokeswoman Or Vandine reiterated calls for the public to remain vigilant despite the Kingdom having concluded the "November 28 community event" -- a reference to the first confirmed case of local transmission.

"We must not lower our guard. As I have frequently warned, if we easily forget about Covid-19 thinking the November 28 event is over, the virus can easily infect us," she said.

As of January 15, the Kingdom had recorded a total of 426 Covid-19 cases with 45 remaining hospitalised.
