Phnom Penh municipal governor Khuong Sreng allowed the Olympic Trade Centre, commonly known as Olympic market, in Boeung Keng Kang district’s Olympic commune to reopen on July 17 after suspension due to an outbreak of Covid-19 there.

Sreng ordered its management to strictly implement preventive measures including limiting the number of people in proportion to the size of the market, ventilating the compound and prevent crowding.

“Vendors, security guards, workers, customers and anyone entering the market must wear a face mask and maintain distancing at all times. Gathering in all forms is prohibited,” he said in a notice.

Sreng instructed the management to regularly disinfect the market and area in its vicinity.

Market goers who fail to wear a face mask or maintain physical distancing are subject to a fine of between 200,000 and one million riel ($20 and $250).
