A Banteay Meanchey provincial court prosecutor on Tuesday questioned a man and a woman accused of trafficking 1,015.2g of methamphetamine after they were arrested by provincial military police on Sunday, said its education office chief Lakphy Ngoy.

He identified the suspects as 39-year-old farmer Bek Sensovann from Kampong Thom province’s Achar Leak village, and 23-year-old casino employee Pech Ratha from the province’s Poipet city.

He said the arrests occurred on Sunday afternoon in Poipet city’s Samaki Meanchey village with police confiscating the package containing methamphetamines.

“During the operation, military police arrested the suspects when they were trafficking drugs,” he said

Soksovann told them that he bought the drugs from a Thai national known only as Chin. Ratha informed police that she was instructed by the Thai national to deliver the package to Soksovann, at which point they were both arrested.

Pech Ratha claimed she did not know the package contained drugs.
