Nearly five tonnes of counterfeit methanol-based sanitiser were destroyed by the General-Directorate of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF) in the capital's dumpsite in Dangkor district on July 2.

The fake sanitiser was destroyed in the presence of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court prosecution and officials from the municipal police's anti-economic crime unit.

The contraband was confiscated by CCF officials in a series of crackdowns on warehouses and pharmacies in Phnom Penh.
