Prime Minister Hun Sen on March 4 became the Kingdom's first to be inoculated with the AstraZeneca/SII jab, which was provided through the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) Facility and whose first shipment of 324,000 does touched down in Phnom Penh on March 2.

Hun Sen was vaccinated to large fanfare at Calmette Hospital along with his wife Bun Rany Hun Sen and other senior officials. They included, among others, health minister Mam Bun Heng; interior minister Sar Kheng and his wife; and public works minister Sun Chanthol.

This came as the health ministry recorded 31 more cases of Covid-19 on March 4, with 28 linked to the February 20 community transmission.

The latest cluster cases include one Vietnamese national, 10 Cambodians and 17 Chinese, bringing the country's third community transmission cases to 402 in nearly two weeks.

As of March 4, Cambodia had recorded a total of 909 Covid-19 cases, with 484 having recovered and been discharged from hospital.
