Eleven major companies sought to fill about 700 employment vacancies at an August 11 job forum, with about 300 applicants interviewed and offered jobs.

The National Employment Agency (NEA) of the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) organised the morning forum.

The forum brought many young people and students to the NEA building in Phnom Penh. The offices are located at the labour ministry headquarters, next to the Institute of Foreign Languages.

499 people reistered and applied for interviews, with almost 300 passing their interviews.

Voeun Sreymey a student at the Royal University of Phnom Penh who passed a job interview, described the event as a major help in her search for work.

“I wanted to find a job, and had searched many websites. Once I submitted applications, I often had to wait a long time for an interview. Sometimes I wasn’t contacted at all. At the forum, the application and interview were conducted at the same time, making the process much simpler,” she said.

Another job-seeker, Sithy Serey, recently graduated high school. She interviewed with AEON Cambodia in the field of food, and also appreciated the forum for making the job-seeking process much easier for young people. She recommended that anyone who is looking for work should attend the next monthly event that is held.

Any people who have not yet visited the forum should register with the NEA, which arranges interviews and also conducts training sessions on interview techniques, job market readiness, and other soft skills.
