Lieutenant General HUN Manet has announced that due to the large number of requests, he will provide those who want a copy of PM’s Eldest Son: Hun Manet’s Journey to Prime Ministerial Post for free.
Future prime ministerial candidate Manet said in an August 29 social media post that his team were readying to provide the book to people.
“Because many people have asked me for PM’s Eldest Son: Hun Manet’s Journey to Prime Ministerial Post, I have allowed my team to prepare this book to be provided to those who wish to read it,” the post said.
PM’s Eldest Son: Hun Manet’s Journey to Prime Ministerial Post is a biography of Manet, who has risen to be deputy commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and commander of the Royal Cambodian Army.
Veteran journalist Chhay Sophal said on August 29 that the book had taken nearly three years to author and was more than 300 pages long. He had started writing it during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The important point of the book is showing the life story of a future prime ministerial candidate up to the present, especially the work done to be successful in the post in the future,” Sophal said.
Another 10,000-plus copies of the book are being printed to meet the demand at home and abroad after a first run of 20,000, he added.
The post advised that to get the book for free, people should contact the team on 010 400 136 and 085 522 140, or visit https://m.facebook.com/hunmanetcoarmycambodia/.
In addition to distribution in state and private institutions and organisations, the book will be sold at libraries and bookstores across Cambodia.
The Hun Manet team said: “For those who ask for it in the provinces, we will deliver it to them for free.”
The book documents Manet’s life from his early days of struggle to his higher education in the US and the UK.
“I believe that this record can be a document of human history and helpful for future generations,” Sophal said.
