Kampong Speu provincial police are questioning two monks and two men who impersonated police officers and were arrested for violating the inter-provincial travel ban in Baset district's Por Mreal commune on April 18.

According to the National Police website, the four were also found to have been involved in other unspecified crimes.

The two monks were identified as Nuon Chenda, 39, and Choeng Moengheak, 35 – both were headmonks of Monisophorn and Sen Oudom pagodas, respectively, in Baset district’s Por Mreal commune. They have since been defrocked and handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal procedures.

The authorities have not confirmed the identity of the other two suspects.

Police confiscated two cars and a set of fake National Police uniform, among others.
