The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration has added three more villages in Meanchey district's Stung Meanchey III commune to the list of lockdown areas for two weeks, effective though April 24.

“The lockdown is to ensure the effectiveness of Covid-19 control and prevent it from spreading,” municipal governor Khuong Sreng said.

He said shopping for food and other necessities within the area is permitted, and so is hospital visit. Residents who work nightshift are also granted exemption as long as they have a letter proving as such from their employers.

On Friday night, Sreng placed parts of Meanchey, Sen Sok, and Por Senchey districts in lockdown after more than 600 garment factory workers residing in those areas tested positive for Covid-19.
