Following a lengthy investigation, police from the Ministry of Interior's Anti-Drug Department – in collaboration with the Phnom Penh municipal police – busted a drug trafficking and processing operation, confiscating more than 100kg of illegal drugs at three different locations in the capital.
The department said the March 25 operation was planned with legal coordination by municipal court deputy prosecutor Seth Vannak.
The first location raided was on National Road 4 in Bek Chan commune of Kandal province’s Ang Snuol district. The second and third locations were residential buildings in Phnom Penh Thmey commune of the captial’s Sen Sok district.
Police arrested three suspects, all Chinese nationals, and seized nearly 100kg of ketamine, more than 7kg of ecstasy or MDMA, and small quantities of methamphetamine and nimetazepam. The amount of drugs found totalled more than 107kg.
The department said the suspects and evidence were being held by police while the case was being prepared for referral to court.
