Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training spokesman Heng Sour urged factories workers living in red zones across four of Phnom Penh's districts not to rush to get vaccinated for the novel coronavirus if they haven't received a patient invitation letter from the authorities.

In a voice message addressed to the workers, Sour noted that a vaccination campaign for residents and workers in Meanchey, Por Sen Chey, Dangkor and Kambol districts kicked off on May 1, with priority given to those in red zones.

“Brothers and sisters, go and get the jab only when you've received a patient invitation letter and queue number from village or commune officials.

“That being said, those who have not received an invitation, please don't go to the vaccination sites because each site can only accommodate a limited number of people” at a time, he said.

According to Sour, vaccination teams will inoculate all residents in each village or commune in red zones before moving on to the next.

He stressed that there is no need to panic or scramble for vaccines.

“The government and the Ministry of Health have provided 900,000 doses of the vaccine to the vaccination teams. According to the statistics on the number of workers living in rental units in these four districts, there are enough vaccines,” Sour said.
