A total of 8,290 people registered to vote on November 25 alone, while 4,277 names were removed from the list, according to the National Election Committee’s (NEC) press statement.

Another 1,231 voters corrected their voter data and 3,314 relocated to other communes on that same day.

As of November 25, the NEC said that a total of 478,952 new voters have been registered, while 208,613 names have been removed from the list. A total of 48,149 voters have made corrections to their voter data, while the total relocating to other communes stands at 136,507 voters.

The NEC is permitting voter list data review and new registration from October 20 to December 8, during which time election officials will work seven days a week to assist voters. The election body calls on all people to check their names and make corrections during this period to ensure they can vote in next year’s national election.

Those who will reach 18 years old by next year’s general election on July 23, meaning those who are born before July 24, 2005, must register to vote now. Those who are older and have not not voted in past elections must also take the time to register at their respective commune halls.
