Victory over China’s Li Li Shan during the April 20 Angkor King Fight in Siem Reap has given Nov Sreypov an added boost.

The national kickboxer was forced to go the distance before carving out a victory on points after three rounds of exciting battle.

While both exponents were undeterred by their rival’s pedigree and exchanged blows from the start, it was Sreypov’s accuracy that gave her the advantage.

In the end it was a unanimous decision in favour of Sreypov, a well-deserved victory that she believed would boost her confidence ahead of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in Vietnam next month.

She also lauded her Chinese rival for her toughness and skills, giving her a much-needed test before the SEA Games.

“It was a great fight and a very good result for me. It was a good warm-up fight ahead of the SEA Games and I am very satisfied with the result,” said Sreypov, who will compete in the 52kg event in Vietnam.

“The win over Li Shan has given me motivation and confidence. I will keep working hard and aim for positive results at the games – I hope to win a medal for the Kingdom,” she said.

Following her bout at the Angkor King Fight, Sreypov is now undergoing intensive training to prepare for next month’s Games.

“I am following an intensive training routine. I am working really hard and training three sessions a day,” added the multi-skilled boxer.

Sreypov is adept in several disciplines, including boxing, kickboxing and Kun Khmer (Khmer martial arts). She is also a mixed martial arts fighter – featuring several times in the ONE Championship.

She is seen as a potential medal winner in the upcoming SEA Games.

In 2019, she won her first SEA Games medal in the Philippines – securing a bronze after defeating Nelly of Myanmar in the quarter-finals but losing to Nguyen Thi Tham of Vietnam in the semi-finals.
