Raja Randhir Singh, acting president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), sent a letter of thanks to Minister of Tourism Thong Khon, President of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia (NOCC) and his colleagues for the success of the 41st General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, saying many fond memories had been made at the meeting.

Singh appreciated the excellent work of the Cambodian hosts, NOCC and the National Organising Committee of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games 2023 (CAMSOC).

Singh considered Thong Khon, chairman of the NOCC and permanent vice-president of CAMSOC, one of the key individuals who drove the success of the general assembly. For his dedication to promoting sport, Khon was awarded the OCA Merit Medal.

Singh, who presented Khon with the award, wrote in his letter of thanks: “Please accept the assurances of my highest consideration. On this occasion, I would like to thank His Excellency and his colleagues in NOCC for successfully organising the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia in Phnom Penh.”

In addition, Singh praised Cambodia for its expertise in international hospitality, saying that delegations from 45 nation’s national Olympic committees – along with international observers of national and international committees from 10 other countries – were all delighted with their experiences in the Kingdom. Approximately 400 delegates attended the assembly.

“The Asian Olympic General Assembly (in Cambodia) was held in a professional manner and the hospitality was excellent. Each one of the delegates returned home with great memories of their participation,” read the letter.

“I wish His Excellency Thong Khon success in work and success in organising the upcoming SEA Games in Cambodia,” it added.

Singh previously stated that he had faith in the Kingdom’s ability to host next year’s games, saying he was confident it would be a success.
