ABA Bank announced its donation of $150,000 to the fundraising campaign for the athletes who will represent Cambodia in the SEA Games and Para Games 2023.
The campaign aims at collecting $1 million to upgrade training equipment, athletes’ footwear and clothes, and to support sports science and sports medicine.
The Team Cambodia fundraising campaign runs on the first Cambodian crowdfunding platform KhmerCare.
The official launch of the platform was held on 14 February in Phnom Penh. It was graced over by H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Co-founder of RaksaKoma Foundation, H.E. VathChamroeun, Secretary-General of the Cambodia SEA Games Organizing Committee (CAMSOC), Askhat Azhikhanov, CEO of ABA Bank, Steven Path, Founder and Executive Director of KhmerCare, and other honourable guests.
Askhat Azhikhanov, CEO of ABA Bank, said during the ceremony: “Supporting sports is one of our core corporate social responsibility commitments. That is why sponsoring the historic SEA Games was a natural fit for ABA.
In addition to our primary sponsorship of $1,500,000 as the Exclusive Bank Sponsor and Exclusive Cashless Payment Sponsor, we contribute $150,000 for "One Dollar to One Dollar" matching on the KhmerCare platform from today onwards.
“Moreover, we will cooperate with KhmerCare to enable it in our mobile banking application, so all ABA Mobile users can access it to donate funds right from the app,” he added.
In January 2023, ABA Bank announced its extensive support of SEA Games and Para Games 2023 scheduled for May 5-17 and June 3-9, respectively.
Following the agreement between the Bank and organizers of the Games, ABA is committed to providing $1,500,000 of in-cash and in-kind sponsorship to support the Cambodian national team and the hosts and facilitate marketing campaigns aimed at promoting the Games spirit.
KhmerCare is a crowdfunding platform for people and NGOs to raise funds for those most in need. It is a fully transparent system created to simplify making an immediate impact on people's lives.
