Twelve Chinese companies are looking for investment opportunities in high-potential sectors in Cambodia, with Prime Minister Hun Manet welcoming their interest.

Zhao Yudong, president of Everbright Group Everbright Sunshine Asset Management Co Ltd, led a delegation of 12 Chinese investment companies to visit Cambodia and meet with Manet in Phnom Penh on August 20.

In an August 20 social media post, Manet said that during the meeting, Zhao expressed his satisfaction and appreciation for the government’s new policies and measures aimed at encouraging financiers and creating a more favourable investment environment.

According to the post, Zhao stated that the delegation was visiting Cambodia to explore opportunities in key sectors such as clean energy, health, agriculture, industry and finance.

"Delegates from Chinese investment companies have shown interest in Cambodia's potential and investment climate across several key sectors … while Cambodia is prepared to welcome investment and trade, which are vital for boosting the national economy.

“The prime minister expressed his pleasure and welcomed the interest of the [companies],” the post said.

Manet noted that the sectors of interest to the visiting representatives align with the government's priority areas, which are well-prepared to facilitate and encourage investment.

He outlined the government's strategic policy framework for foreign investors, including investment laws, regulations and incentive measures designed to create a favourable, predictable and rich investment environment.

Manet encouraged the delegation to continue collaborating with relevant government ministries and institutions, particularly the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), to gain further insights into the country’s investment potential.
