The China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) has finished a feasibility study for the construction of a waterway and logistic facility along the Bassac River in Phnom Penh.
A CRBC delegation, representing CCCC Transportation Consultants Co Ltd, presented their study to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport via video conference on April 22.
The ministry quoted minister Sun Chanthol as saying that the waterway and Bassac River logistic facility will bring about a positive change in Cambodia’s waterborne transport.
Chanthol noted that the project will improve waterborne transport and logistics that increase connection and in turn spur the national economy. It also provides more options aside from transportation by land.
The minister said Cambodia is rich in waterways which include the Mekong River, Tonle Sap, and Sekong and Sre Pok rivers. He noted, however, that the Kingdom has yet to untap the full potentials of these natural resources.
