The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has shared its successful experiences in setting up “Business Support Centres” to officials at the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). The Kingdom is considering establishing such centres to facilitate investment in the Kingdom.

The July 25-26 training session was organised by JETRO, said the CDC in a statement released earlier today.

The training followed a request made by Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, first vice-president of the CDC, during a meeting with Marisa Haruta, representative of JETRO Phnom Penh, in Japan in May this year.

During the meeting, Chanthol expressed his interest in business support centres and expressed his wish that a similar procedure could be implemented in Cambodia.

The CDC explained that these centres function as a “one stop shop”, and would facilitate the process of attracting investment, by allowing potential investors to access all of the information they require in one easy-to-access location.

Chanthol met with Haruta again today at the closing of the training.

He thanked JETRO and the government of Japan for actively supporting Cambodia’s mission to attract more investment to the Kingdom in the past.

“This training illustrates their commitment to continuing to help promote private sector investment matching activities and promote Cambodia's potential to other Japanese companies who may wish to invest in Cambodia,” said the CDC.
