Kampong Chhnang port development underway

Minister of Public Works and Transport Sun Chanthol advised all relevant parties to support the development of the multi-purpose port and logistics centre in Kampong Chhnang province.

Chanthol made the call at a March 2 meeting to discuss the progress of the project.

“The facility will boost agricultural product exports by water, increase work efficiency and stimulate national economic growth,” he said.

The meeting was held to examine the progress of work and assess the potential environmental impact of the port facility, which is being developed by KLP.T Transportation Co Ltd.

The ministry said the port and logistics centre will improve supply chains for agricultural goods from Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Siem Reap and Kampong Thom provinces.

A road linking the port to National Road 50C will also be built. The road will feature a smart truck monitoring system (STM) to control the flow of goods, including the installation of automatic vehicle inspection cameras and weigh stations.
