Suong Noy, secretary-general of the national committee for the promotion of the One Village, One Product concept, highlighted the important role that provincial authorities play in promoting domestic products.

Noy was speaking at an August 25 forum designed to match producers and buyers. During the meeting, held on the premises of wholesale market Macro in Siem Reap province, market access plans for local producers and small and medium enterprises (SME) were also drafted, according to the provincial information department.

He said such forum is important for promoting domestic products, while boosting exports.

“Producers often complain that they lack markets and buyers in Siem Reap province, as many wholesalers and SMEs are unaware of what is produced locally.

“That’s why we hold the forum. It brings together producers and buyers so that they can discuss details like, how much can be produced, what buyers need and how much they need” he said.

Yun Linne, Siem Reap deputy governor who also serves as deputy head of the national committee, supported Noy’s comments, saying the forum was also aimed at local service providers and craftsmen.
