The General Department of Taxation (GDT) collected over $2.155 billion in tax revenue across all categories during the first seven months of 2024, accounting for 51.76% of the 2024 Law on Financial Management, as disclosed in a GDT press release issued today, August 16.

The statement highlighted that in July alone, the department collected approximately $237.23 million through its online revenue management system, representing 5.70% of the 2024 budget law’s forecasted amount.

From January to July, the GDT successfully registered 6,184 enterprises, with 5,747 of these applications processed via the Cambodia Data Exchange (CamDX) platform.

In July, the department reviewed 1,199 tax registration applications and approved 1,040. Of those greenlighted, 963 were processed through CamDX.

According to the GDT, it also engaged in various collaborations with related sectors, including the dissemination of guideline books on tax audit procedures and other related documents for tax officials, taxpayers and the general public.

The department said it will continue to enhance the efficiency of tax management and revenue collection for the remainder of 2024, particularly focusing on special tax measures for the beverage sector, excise taxes on tobacco products and the distribution of locally produced tobacco.

It will also reinforce transparency and accountability in the tax payments of enterprises in the beer and non-alcoholic beverage industries by installing security cameras in all relevant production factories and conducting thorough inspections of flowmeters in production chains, as per the press release.
