Manulife Cambodia, the country’s first international life insurer, has received the title of “Top Community Care Company in Asia”. The insurance company received the accolade at the Asia Corporate Excellence & Sustainability Awards Ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand, last month.
The only winner from Cambodia this year, the Canada-headquartered life insurer is one of seven companies in Asia to be recognised for best practice in Corporate Social Responsibility effort. The award recognizes the services and achievements of businesses – both large and small, national and international – that have made outstanding contributions to their communities and the world.
Manulife has a clear mission to help make decisions easier and lives better for their customers. In Cambodia, the company is committed to helping build a healthier and better financial future for Cambodian families. This is reflected in the company’s ongoing efforts on three important initiatives: road safety, financial literacy, and the health and wellness of the community.
Robert Elliott, the company’s CEO and General Manager who is one of the nine individuals in Asia recognized by ACES Awards 2019 as an “Outstanding Leader in Asia” said, “This is the first year that we participated in the ACES award programme, and we are honoured to have received the prestigious recognition for our organisation. The award will further encourage us to continue to be a customer-centric organisation and to invest in programmes that address broader social needs.”
Shanggari Balakrishnan, Chief Executive Officer of MORS Group who organised the ACES Awards, said, “Manulife Cambodia has proven a true champion of the community with its astute reading of the needs of the market in which it operates”.
Since its inception in 2012, Manulife Cambodia has contributed over USD 2 million to the community through its CSR and sponsorship programmes. Those include principal sponsorship to the annual Angkor Wat International Half Marathon, donation to children’s hospitals, support on road safety, awareness raising on long-term financial planning, and many more.
Over the last seven years, Manulife Cambodia has received a number of awards and recognitions locally and internally. Those include:
