Dai-ichi Life has been awarded “International Life Insurer of the Year – Cambodia” for the second consecutive year at an event ceremony held on July 9 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore.
The Insurance Asia Awards is widely recognised as the most prestigious awards programme in the Asia Pacific region. Highlighting the hard work, dedication and innovation of companies, the awards acknowledge those that go beyond the ordinary, significantly influencing the lives of their customers through exceptional insurance solutions.
Mah Kin Yoong, acting CEO of Dai-ichi Life, shared, “We’re proud to win this award again. This would not have been possible without all our team members, whose dedication has been the driving force behind our success.”
“We also appreciate the continued trust and support of the regulator, loyal customers, distributors and partners. This collaborative effort aligns well with our group’s purpose - partnering with you to build a brighter and more secure future. This is also a memorable achievement for all of us as it coincides with our 5th anniversary here in Cambodia,” he added.
Rapid growth and expanding reach
Over the past five years, Dai-ichi Life has paid out over $450,000 in claims and bonuses, protecting over 20,000 customers and their families. Cementing their long-term commitment in Cambodia, in addition to the current three branch offices and three training centres, they are now expanding and bringing training centres to two more provinces.
They have also made considerable progress since September last year by leveraging their one-of-a-kind Japanese training programmes. By recruiting over 200 full and part-time professional agents, they have not only helped create more jobs but also expanded financial security for more Cambodian families.
Recognising evolving customer needs, they launched a new product called ‘EASYCare’ in April this year to address the gap in life insurance accessibility. The product is customised based on the need for an affordable, quick and easy-to-purchase plan, making life insurance more inclusive for a wider range of Cambodians.
In just five years, they have established four partnerships, with Vattanac Bank, Sacombank, RHB Bank and AMK Microfinance Plc, fostering financial inclusion in Cambodia. In addition to bancassurance partnerships, they have also established new collaborations, such as the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Think Think Cambodia and the Japanese International School of Phnom Penh (JISPP).
Dai-ichi Life also continuously supports various causes in the community, demonstrating their genuine care for the communities they serve. Their most recent donation was to Japan Heart, supporting medical care and treatment for patients and contributing to the construction of a new hospital building in Kandal province.
