The Eye Care Foundation's CEO Björn Stenvers and Sambath Pol, country director Cambodia and programme manager Laos, have received the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia from His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

The honours represent royal recognition of the Amsterdam-based NGO's ophthalmic support in remote areas of Cambodia as part of its dedication to eye care worldwide, which stretches back almost 40 years.

HE Dr Chea Sophara, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, presented the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia to Stenvers and Sambath at the grand official presentation ceremony in Tbong Khmum on March 23, 2023.

The Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Cambodia is the highest decoration of the Royal Order of Cambodia awarded by His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni.

Congratulations were extended to all at Eye Care Foundation for the receiving of the prestigious honours.

Eye Care Foundation is among the four Cambodian eye care NGOs currently working on the successful implementation of the National Strategic Plan for Blindness Prevention and Control 2021-2030.
