The four-star Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh hotel at the 45-storey Chip Mong Tower in the heart of the capital was officially inaugurated on March 31, 2023.
The glittering launch event was presided over by HE Dr Hun Manet, deputy commander in chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and commander of the Cambodian army, with more than 700 distinguished guests in attendance.
"Congratulations to all the management and staff of Chip Mong for the inauguration of Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh, a modern international hotel offering a wide range of services, with Chip Mong Tower a prominent new symbol of Phnom Penh.
"With economic activities having returned to normal, Cambodia's tourism sector has gradually recovered, with strong confidence returning to the sector.
"In 2022, Cambodia received around 2.28 million international tourists, a more than 10-fold increase on 2021," HE Dr Hun Manet said.
Oknha Leang Khun – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chip Mong – said the opening of the Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh hotel at the Chip Mong Tower was perfectly timed, with Cambodia set to host the 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
”I firmly believe that Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh will attract national and international guests from all around the world to visit Cambodia.
"This brand new hotel is ready to provide the perfect hospitality for the thousands of visitors to the Kingdom to attend the upcoming 2023 SEA Games.
"This will significantly contribute to the sustainability and growth of Cambodian tourism, which is a crucial pillar of the national economy," Oknha Leang Khun said.
He added that Marriott International, in bringing such a world-class hotel to Phnom Penh, has a long-term vision and stands in line with the Cambodian government in promoting the potential of tourism and hospitality in the Kingdom.
And Jakob Helgen – regional vice-president for Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar – reflected his remarks.
"I am very pleased and extremely confident to partner with Chip Mong to bring Fairfield by Marriott brand to Cambodia.
"Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh is a hotel with a luxurious and contemporary style, one that meets the highest standards and is ready to welcome all national and international guests," he said.
HE Dr Hun Manet said the opening of the Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh at the Chip Mong Tower came as signs were increasingly optimistic for the Kingdom's tourism sector.
"With Cambodia's tourism revenue more than doubling between 2021 and 2022 – and creating jobs for an estimated 320,000 people – the outlook for the Kingdom's travel industry is looking increasingly bright.
"This reflects positive signs for the hotel sub-sector in the medium and long term, especially with the Kingdom this year organising many major events alongside the 32nd Southeast Asian Games and 12th ASEAN Para Games, as well as running the "Visit Cambodia 2023" campaign," he said.
Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh consists of 300 modern bedrooms, a rooftop swimming pool with breathtaking views, a luxury ballroom, a restaurant and a stylish sky bar.
The hotel occupies the top 19 floors of the 45-storey Chip Mong Tower, an international standard mixed-use commercial building situated in the heart of the capital.
