Genuis Resort held the grand opening of its new equestrian centre – featuring impressive stables, training facilities and riding arenas – in Phnom Penh on February 16, 2024.
The top-notch facilities also include a 2,100 square metre indoor arena – which is well ventilated for year-round training and events – while the 4,000 square metre, international standard outdoor arena is near completion.
The centre, with 40 local and imported horses and ponies, is set to become a second-to-none riding school in Phnom Penh for horse owners and amateur equestrians.
HRH Princess Norodom Nanda Devi, Secretary-General of Cambodian Equestrian Federation, was among the more than 300 people who attended the opening ceremony, which included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, family-friendly activities and an arena show.
The arena show included a number of proficient equestrians, with young performers showcasing their dressage, jumping and reining skills.
“The goal of the centre is to provide a space for horse enthusiasts to pursue their passion,” said Genius Resort owner Vang Panha Tevy, whose eight-year-old son is a member of the Cambodian national equestrian team.
"As the country is presently lacking training facilities, we are providing state-of-the-art facilities for the Cambodian national equestrian team to undergo training for competition in regional and international equestrian games."
HRH Princess Norodom Nanda Devi also expressed her excitement regarding the prospects of the centre for hosting future national and international events, as well as the positive impacts it is expected to have on the community.
Genius Resort owner Tevy stressed that the centre is to serve as an educational ground for children to learn all about ponies and horses, riding, grooming, and much more, while helping them grow their focus, empathy and leadership skills in the process.
Situated across from Northbridge International School in Phnom Penh's Sen Sok district, Genius Resort is not only focused on the equestrian community, but also on creating a welcoming environment for families.
Spectators can watch events from specially designed viewing platforms equipped with cafes and enjoy an art gallery, with the centre planning to organise family-friendly activities and events throughout the year.
