On the evening of March 14, Minister of Information Neth Pheaktra formally recognised the television and online show “Priceless Memories” for its significant role in fostering family happiness in Cambodia.
During a special ceremony, held to honour their work, Pheaktra presented a certificate of appreciation to the programme’s production team Koh Slaket Studios. He praised the studio for its innovative efforts in promoting family values and creating positive change in Cambodian society.
“The “Priceless Memories” show, initiated by Koh Slaket Studios, stands out as a unique and impactful program that aligns with the seventh-mandate government’s Pentagonal Strategy, which aims to build a prosperous, high-income country in the next 25 years,” said the minister.
He emphasised that the programme plays an essential part in strengthening social ethics and cultural values as Cambodia continues on its path towards modernisation and development.
The show focuses on cultivating good manners, ethics, virtues and respect within the family, as well as the broader community.
It highlights real-life experiences of couples, aiming to inspire families to live with love, kindness and dignity.
“I, and all of us present, would like to express our gratitude for the peace that allows such initiatives to thrive, acknowledging that without peace, the success of the programme would not have been possible,” said Pich Chetra, chairman of Koh Slaket Studios.
Pheaktra noted that he was a regular viewer of the show, which he described as a profound and unscripted portrayal of the real-life experiences of a couple.
He noted that “Priceless Memories” serves as a platform to “create family happiness”, with its main content focusing on cultivating good manners, ethics, virtues, culture and tourism, as well as the promotion of values such as love, kindness, respect, appreciation, honesty and dignity within families and communities.
“The programme presents real situations and real experiences. No formal teaching takes place, but the show conveys lessons through experience, habits and sharing. I thank Chetra and Davy for choosing a partner who embodies all the right values,” he said.
The minister also noted the Kingdom’s progress in reducing domestic violence. According to a Ministry of Women’s Affairs report, domestic violence rates were 29 per cent in 2014, but fell to 21 per cent by 2021.
He described the decline as reflecting Cambodian society’s growing recognition and appreciation of women's equal rights.
Chetra explained that, in recognition of the indispensable value and necessity of morality, decency and family happiness, he, along with his wife and the Koh Slaket Studios team, launched the “Priceless Memories” programme in March 2023.
Through workshops, interviews and various activities, the show has engaged thousands of participants across Cambodia, reinforcing its mission to support family well-being and happiness.
The programme features a variety of activities, including workshops in provincial capitals and interviews with officials and representatives from various institutions who share their married life experiences. There are also segments where participants exchange insights and valuable advice.
Additionally, it offers free consultations on fostering family happiness, produces educational stories and short comedies, creates songs and visual content, and delivers short educational messages that promote family well-being.
“The program has gained widespread support, both domestically and internationally. With 636 video clips generating more than 500 million views, ‘Priceless Memories’ has become a leading source of content for promoting family happiness,” said Chetra.
The programme has extended its reach beyond Cambodia, featuring couples from the US, Germany, France and Thailand, with plans to grow into a globally recognised initiative.
Moving forward, Chetra and his team aim to further expand the programme, sharing the values of love, respect and family unity with the world.
