LOLC (Cambodia) Plc – one of the leading deposit-taking institutions in the Kingdom – joined the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) in celebrating the 43rd anniversary of the reintroduction of the riel at the Royal Plaza in Aeon Mall Mean Chey on March 19.
The 43rd anniversary of the reintroduction of the riel celebration was attended by HE Chea Serey, deputy governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and representatives of various ministries and institutions, as well as those from the banking sector and many private financial institutions.
Celebrations commemorating the reintroduction of the riel aim to spread knowledge about the national currency through social media, and promote financial inclusion and the use of riel, as well as disseminate the benefits of the NBC's Bakong system and rewards of financial literacy among the public.
LOLC Cambodia expressed its honour at having participated in such an important event and its pride at seeing the rapid growth of the riel in the Kingdom since its reintroduction 43 years ago.
As the Cambodian currency, the riel plays an important role as a symbol of national identity and in demonstrating financial sovereignty, and especially in strengthening the Kingdom's economy.
LOLC is committed to actively promoting the national currency through encouraging its clients to apply for low-interest loans in riel and by offering high interest rates when they open fixed deposit accounts in riel.
It also continues to strengthen the use of the payment systems, monetary policies and other tools initiated by the NBC, such as its Bakong and Fast Payment systems, among others.
