To conclude an active year, Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation Group (OCIC) was honoured with the first ever "Asia Pacific Outstanding Enterprise Award" at the Platinum Business Awards 2023, which were hosted by the SME Association of Malaysia.
OCIC Group – one of Southeast Asia’s dynamic diversified conglomerates – has been recognised for its diverse pioneering infrastructures and connectivity developments, which are positively impacting the socioeconomic progress of Cambodia and the ASEAN region.
This year's event was attended by H.E. Pheap Kol, Minister Attached to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, and H.E Ouk Chandara, the Cambodian Ambassador to Malaysia.
H.E. Senator Saraswathy Kandasami, Malaysian Deputy Minister of Entrepreneurship, presided over the Platinum Business Awards 2023 ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur.
OCIC Vice President Thierry Tea received the award on behalf of Neak Okhna Dr. Pung Kheav Se, the group's founder.
“For around 30 years, our group’s founder has been actively engaged in building ecosystems in Cambodia and Laos to enable the growth of SMEs," said Thierry Tea.
"Receiving this recognition from fellow entrepreneurs and captains of industries in the ASEAN region is amazing encouragement for OCIC Group’s contributions to building opportunities for millions of people."
The Platinum Business Awards, organised since 2002 by the more than 10,000 member SME Association of Malaysia, recognises SMEs and business personalities for achievements and contributions in support of the development of small and medium companies.
SMEs are the backbone of most countries’ economies – in Cambodia, for example, SMEs make up more than 90 per cent of businesses and represent nearly 60 per cent of the Kingdom’s GDP.
With more than 2,000 people in attendance, the 2023 edition of the Platinum Business Awards in Kuala Lumpur was recognised by the Malaysian Book of Records as the business awards ceremony with the most attendees.
This year has been a very busy one for OCIC Group, which has completed several connectivity infrastructure projects.
These include the 824m Koh Pich-Koh Norea bridge and the 922m Russey Keo Bridge connecting both sides of the Tonle Sap from National Road 5 to National Road 6 on the Chroy Changvar peninsula.
And in addition to sealed partnerships and launches with international groups such as Accor Hotels from France, Big C from Thailand and Singapore Airline Engineering from Singapore, OCIC Group has concluded a stellar 2023 by receiving local and international awards recognition, paving the way for more successes in 2024.
