Pong Cambodia is quickly positioning itself as the king of fast-food breakfast, and with arguably the best breakfast muffins in the Kingdom, the most important meal of the day just got easier – and tastier. Pong opened its first branch last October, and the rapidly rising Cambodian food proprietor now has three outlets in Phnom Penh, with one in Siem Reap and one in Sihanoukville They all open at 6:30am, with muffins and coffee delivered within four minutes of ordering.

“Pong” means “egg” in Khmer, with the initial menu focusing on egg-based “sandgers” – all the best bits of a burger and a sandwich rolled into one. But now it is the Pong Muffin in four flavours – bacon and egg, egg and sausage, sausage and the deluxe muffin – that is making waves. While similar to a McDonalds McMuffin, the Pong Muffin is made with softer bread and is topped with Khmer seasoning to suit the local palate. PHOTO SUPPLIED
