Cambodia witnessed a significant milestone in the digital content creation landscape with the conclusion of the first season of metfone STARS.
The groundbreaking programme, powered by TikTok and organised by metfone, Cambodia's leading telecommunications provider, has set the stage for a new generation of influencers and video content creators.
The grand finale, held at AEON Mall Sen Sok City, was a vibrant celebration of creativity and talent. The atmosphere was electric, with enthusiastic cheers from the audience, reflecting the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event. Vivo, a trusted smartphone brand, also played a crucial role as the Device Sponsor, underscoring the importance of technology in content creation.
The journey of metfone STARS began with a massive pool of hopefuls. Thousands of candidates were rigorously evaluated, and only 50 individuals advanced to the first round. These contestants faced numerous challenges to prove their worth, culminating in the selection of 10 exceptional candidates for the grand finale.
The final stage tested their skills in three key areas: creating videos showcasing Khmer culture, promoting metfone telecommunications products, and demonstrating their general knowledge through a question-and-answer session.
"I am thrilled that metfone STARS, Cambodia's first programme dedicated to discovering and nurturing video content creators, has successfully launched," expressed metfone CEO Cao Manh Duc.
"This platform provides a unique opportunity for talented individuals to compete, showcase their skills and gain invaluable experience. By nurturing talent and providing a platform for growth, metfone STARS has successfully bridged the gap between aspiring content creators and their dreams. This programme has achieved its goal of contributing to the development of human resources and fostering social progress, bringing metfone closer to its community," he added.
The judging process for the top 10 candidates was conducted with precision and impartiality. A panel of five judges, including esteemed main judges Rean Thort, Rainnie Dara and Da Dao, along with special committee members Ms Mice and the committee, and honorary judge Ouk Chipphal, representing metfone, meticulously evaluated video content based on quality, content, technique and creativity. The candidates' work was truly commendable.
The first season of metfone STARS crowned 28-year-old Harry Boy, a Phnom Penh resident and highly skilled human resource professional with a passion for video content creation. Known for his consistently engaging work, Boy impressed the judges and garnered enthusiastic support from his fans. Upon being declared the winner, Boy's excitement and joy were palpable, celebrating his triumph as the top metfone STARS competitor in the inaugural season.
Boy encouraged aspiring content creators to work hard, hone their skills and gain valuable experience. He emphasised that metfone STARS serves as a nurturing platform, offering valuable training and experience to all participants, just as it did for him. He urged those with the drive and talent to apply for future seasons.
The prize breakdown for metfone STARS included substantial rewards for the top performers. The champion received 20 million riel (about $4875), a Vivo smartphone model Y27s, a metfone special SIM card with 30GB monthly data for one year and a content creator contract with metfone.
The second and third place winners, along with the top seven finalists, also received special prizes, including Vivo smartphones and metfone special SIM cards.
Metfone STARS has not only highlighted the rise of influencers and video content creators in Cambodia but also demonstrated the potential of digital platforms to transform lives and careers. As the programme continues to grow, it promises to inspire and empower more individuals to pursue their passions and contribute to Cambodia’s vibrant digital landscape.
