Founder Princess Ermine Norodom spoke of her immense delight and gratitude for the levels of support provided over the past decade.
“Ten years ago, my husband and l created Shanty Town Spirit Association to ensure we could provide help to whoever needed it, not just those who qualified.
“We firmly believe that everyone, regardless of their age, status or wealth, should have access to basic human needs, and we are extremely grateful for the continued support of our partners and donors who have helped make all we have been able to achieve possible,” she said.
The highly anticipated occasion was attended by more than 200 private invitees comprising supporters and friends of the Association, all celebrating the reaching of the significant decade milestone.
The event was held in partnership with major supporters Edan Group, Halys, Legend Cinema, Pernod Ricard, Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Urban Village and SinnC Creative Solutions.
Alongside the performances from the Royal Ballet and Association Ambassador Princess Jenna, there was a video montage from media partner Bayon TV, 100s of prizes – from sponsors including Rosewood Phnom Penh, Hops, Bodia and Pasta Fresca – and certificates of appreciation for the kind supporters.
Shanty Town Spirit Association was founded back in 2013 by HRH Prince Norodom Narithipong and Princess Ermine to help the very poorest communities in the Kingdom.
Starting with a slum area in the Boeung Trabek district of the capital and just two children, Shanty Town Spirit now provides health, hygiene, education and special needs assistance, as well as leisure activities, to a number of families across all age groups.
With the ethos of “One Spirit, One Heart, One Community”, the Association has grown to provide a growing community of more than 300 people with the basic facilities and opportunities they deserve.
