Woori Bank teamed up with the National Blood Transfusion Center to hold the voluntary "Blood Donation Day to Save Lives " on October 19.
The occasion was presided over by Dr Ly Sovit, vice-president of the National Blood Transfusion Center, and Hun Sopheak, Woori Bank chief operating officer, Business Group 1.
Woori Bank management and staff attended the event held at the leading financial institution's head office on Phnom Penh's Monivong Boulevard.
“At Woori Bank, we try our utmost to join with the Cambodian government in nation development through providing jobs in the banking industry for thousands of Cambodian people through internships and traineeships, with a particular focus on developing fresh graduates through our incubation programmes.
"We also join many social activities contributing to Cambodian society including blood donation drives and, together with the National Blood Transfusion Center, this is another great contribution.
"This blood donation event by Woori Bank – which has provided financial services to the Cambodian people for 30 years – demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility and our concern for people's welfare, particularly those in need of blood," Sopheak said.
Dr Sovit expressed his delight at witnessing Woori Bank employees enthusiastically volunteering to give blood to the National Blood Transfusion Center.
He said the Woori Bank blood donation programme was a significant occasion, one that had two main objectives.
The first was to help cultivate a culture of donating blood and motivate the public to take part in such activities across the Kingdom to ensure the National Blood Transfusion Center has a sufficient supply.
The second was to link the voluntary donation of blood with other beneficial humanitarian efforts in society.
