More than a dozen small experimental aircraft will arrive in Preah Sihanouk province’s Kang Keng Airport this afternoon, in preparation for an April 26-27 air show, which aims to attract tourists to the province.

Long Dimanche, deputy governor of Preah Sihanouk province, told The Post on April 25 that an aerial display of the 16 aircraft will be held from 4pm on each of the two days. The show has been dubbed the “Cambodia-Thai Friendship Air Show 2024”.

He suggested that interested members of the public can obtain excellent vantage points at Poy Tamoung or Techo Square in Sangat 4, at a park known as Kantuy Neak, near the Sokha Hotel.

“The spectacular air show will take place along the beach – especially above Poy Tamoung – for the public to enjoy,” he said.

“This show is not for business purposes. It is organised by the Thai Experimental Aircraft Association, which is composed of the owners of small personal aeroplanes owned by private individuals,” he said, adding that event is also being held in cooperation with the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents (CATA).

“They will fly to Preah Sihanouk province from Thailand, where we will work with them for the purpose of promoting tourism,” he added.

Demanche added that the air show also aligns with the government’s “open skies” policy, which is intended to boost tourism and trade between the two neighbouring kingdoms.
