Sokkhoeun, a 65-year-old driver for Maxim, says the company’s flexible working hours have allowed him to improve his living standards, on his own terms. Maxim
Having launched in Cambodia more than six months ago, new on-call transportation app Maxim Ride Hailing is providing unique opportunities to the retirees of Cambodia.
Healthy senior citizens are offered the chance to fulfil orders as couriers or partner-drivers using their cars, tuk-tuks and remorques, and all on their own schedule as gig economy participants.
For the elderly, the option of working flexible hours is a crucial advantage, so this project is a great chance for them to earn extra money and increase their quality of life.
“I am a veteran and my family bought a tuk-tuk for personal use. I never imagined I’d be allowed to register with a ride-hailing service due to my age. At some point, I needed additional daily income, so I was really glad to become a Maxim partner-driver. Now, I can earn extra cash daily and choose my own hours. This is definitely a big help and it has improved my living standards,” says 65-year-old driver Sokkhoeun.
Not only does Maxim provide extra income opportunities, it also enables its partner-drivers to receive additional bonuses. For example, Sokkhoeun has opted to place the company’s ads on his tuk-tuk.
For that, he gets a monthly bonus of 48,000 riel (approx. US$12) which he uses to buy fuel and pay for other goods and services.
“We provide earning opportunity with a flexible schedule through our user-friendly app for partner-drivers aged between 18 and 70 who have their own vehicle. Maxim puts a special emphasis on supporting the older generation, providing them not only with extra income, but also with a feeling of being needed and significant,” explained Thol Than, head of Maxim Cambodia.
“This is part of our company’s big picture mission of improving the quality of life in Cambodia,” he added.
The Maxim international service began about 10 years ago, when the brand first appeared in various parts of Asia and then in Latin America and South Africa.
Cambodia is Maxim’s sixth country of operation in Southeast Asia, after Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
In the Kingdom of Cambodia, the brand is operated by Taxsee (Cambodia) Company, LTD.
Maxim develops innovative technologies for ordering ride-hailing services, making them more modern, accessible and safe.
The company also develops its own solutions and has created a system that makes it possible to register an unlimited number of drivers and process millions of orders every day.
The Maxim ride-hailing app for clients and the Taxsee Driver app for drivers are among the world’s top apps with millions of users.
