Lieutenant General Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces and Commander of the Cambodian Army, visited Australia to attend a three-day Land Forces International Land Defense Exposition from October 4-6 in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland. He aimed to strengthen and enhance military ties.

On October 4, he met with Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, commander-in-chief of the Australian Army. Manet initiated the idea of enhancing relations between the two countries’ armed forces.

He thanked the government and people of Australia for their continued support of Cambodia, especially in the process of finding peace and rebuilding Cambodia.

In response, Stuart agreed with the proposal, saying the two sides should look into the possibility of further cooperation on humanitarian assistance and high availability disaster recovery in the future.

Stuart also praised Cambodia’s success in the fight against Covid-19 and asked Manet to share his experiences in preventing and controlling the pandemic.

Manet shared the measures taken by the government of Cambodia at the national level, detailed the military’s role in this important mission.

Manet also met with Romeo Brawner Jr, commander of the Philippine Army.

Manet praised the excellent cooperation between the two countries’ armies, especially in the training and development of effective human resources. He also proposed expanding cooperation further in the future.

Brawner Junior agreed with Manet’s assessment of past cooperation and confirmed his support for the concept. The two also shared experiences in the Covid-19 fight, including the introduction of measures and the military’s involvement in vaccination campaigns.
