The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) has elected Tea Banh and Men Sam Orn as its vice-presidents. This followed the party’s Central Committee meeting held at its headquarters in Phnom Penh's Chamkarmon district on the morning of December 24.

“Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh and Her Excellency Men Sam Orn have been elected as the party’s vice presidents. This is the decision of the Standing Committee following a vote by the Central Committee,” said CPP spokesman Sok Eysan.

Currently, Tea Banh is Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, while Men Sam Orn is Deputy Prime Minster and Minster of the National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection.

The endorsement brought the total number of CPP’s vice-president to four, including Senate President Say Chhum and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng.

Prime Minster Hun Sen remains the President of the party, while National Assembly president Heng Samrin is Honorary President.
