The Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has summoned 11 people living in Koh Rong commune’s Sok San village of Preah Sihanouk province’s Koh Rong town to appear for questioning on February 7 regarding fraudulent use of public documents.

If they do not present themselves, the ACU said it may have them forcibly detained to ensure their cooperation.

According to a letter signed by Soth Thea, head of the ACU’s operations department, the ACU had previously issued a summons to them on December 16 but they had intentionally avoided receiving service of the paperwork.

Thea said the 11 individuals have been summoned for questioning regarding cases of forgery involving public documents which took place from 2012 to the present in Koh Rong town and commune.

Because they were apparently trying to evade service of the summons, it was publicly announced on the ACU’s official Facebook page and website and is legally valid in case they cannot be located.

“If these individuals still avoid appearing and responding by the date specified in the summons, the ACU will issue a warrant that will allow judicial police officials to force their compliance,” the letter stated.

Neither ACU head Om Yentieng nor any of the 11 people could be reached for comment on January 25.
