Another 400,000 doses of the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine donated by China touched down at the Phnom Penh International Airport at 9:30pm on April 28, marking the third such donation the Kingdom has received from the Chinese government.
Ministry of Health's secretary of state York Sambath, who was among those present at the airport to receive the vaccine, told reporters that China has thus far donated a total of 1.7 million doses.
"As per Prime Minister Hun Sen's order, we will use them to accelerate our vaccination drive in Phnom Penh and Kandal province to contain the ongoing outbreak," she said.
Cambodia has so far procured a total of 3.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines from China, through both donation and purchase – 1.7 million doses of Sinopharm and two million doses of Sinovac.
According to Sambath, another one million doses of the Sinovac vaccine will arrive in Cambodia on May 10.
