Apsara National Authority (ANA) is conducting inspections at Angkor Archaeological Park and making other preparations for next month’s “Angkor Thanksgiving” extravaganza.

ANA director-general Hang Peou on November 26 led a working team to the main locations of the event, including the area in front of Angkor Wat, Phnom Bakheng, and the Terrace of the Elephants north of Bayon Temple in the Angkor Thom complex.

“Angkor Thanksgiving will be held from 12 to 16 December 2021, with religious programmes, exhibitions, and nightly arts performances,” ANA said in a statement on November 26.

It said "Angkor Thanksgiving" is meant “to commemorate the ancestors, the previous kings and queens who built many temples in the Angkor site as well as all generations of the conservation teams in Angkor's temples for the benefit of the society”.

“The event will also provide an opportunity for the public to visit and learn about the work at the temple restoration sites where the [ANA] is operating. In addition, the public can be more aware of the conservation and sustainable development activities in Angkor,” it added.
