The Battambang provincial administration will send several officials to work with international partners to conduct an in-depth study of a sewage treatment plant project and the wider development of Battambang town into a smart city, with the goal of attracting more domestic and international visitors.
Battambang provincial governor Sok Lou chaired a June 8 online meeting between the provincial administration and the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), to strengthen relations and discuss the implementation of other projects in the province.
Having watched a presentation given by the AIMF, Sok Lou took a particular interest in a sewage treatment projects that were implemented in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, noting that a treatment plant would be extremely beneficial to Battambang province.
“The construction of such a treatment plant project will be a new experience for the Battambang administration, so our officials will require additional training to ensure the project goes well. The administration will dispatch several of them to work closely with the AIMF and conduct an in-depth study of the project, as well as several others,” he said.
He proposed several other projects that would promote the development of Battambang into a well governed, sustainable smart city.
He explained that the administration is also seeking to develop the provincial capital into a smart city in order to attract both visitors and potential investors.
