Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng has urged Battambang provincial authorities to uphold people’s rights and address their requests promptly. He voiced his hopes for the province to welcome more visitors following recent accomplishments.

Sar Kheng was speaking at the August 16 inauguration of Independence Monument in the provincial town.

“I commend the provincial administration for beautifying the town, especially with structures like this Independence Monument. It certainly makes the province more appealing,” he said.

Sar Kheng further emphasised the importance of authorities in safeguarding people’s rights, urging them to pay attention to their needs and strive to meet them in a timely manner.

“This place is perfect for visitors to explore and for locals to exercise. I encourage everyone to help us preserve our environment, keep our surroundings clean and plant more trees,” he said.

Battambang governor Sok Lou said the province has been focusing on major urban projects, including road repairs.

He noted that the administration began constructing the monument on December 15, 2022, and completed the project on July 5. This landmark covers an area of 962m and stands at 22m tall.

Currently, Battambang boasts 164 roads, and this year, the administration has undertaken 13 road repair initiatives.
