The Kingdom on October 15 commemorated the 9th anniversary of the passing of King Father Norodom Sihanouk, who passed away while receiving treatment in Beijing at the age of 89.

“Today, the people, armed forces, civil servants and officials of all levels pay tribute to the highly revered King Father who had devoted his whole life to the motherland,'' Prime Minister Hun Sen said in a Facebook post.

Officials from various ministries and institutions went to pay respects and lay wreaths as tribute at his memorial east of the Independence Monument.

The Kingdom's provinces also commemorated his passing.

In Kep, all departments and units under the provincial administration, as well as schools and educational institutions, embellished and displayed the picture of the late King Father along with the national flag and flags symbolising the monarchy and Buddhism.

The general public also hoisted the national flag at their homes, while pagodas held religious ceremonies to commemorate his passing and sacrifices.
