The Ministry of Tourism and the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) have pledged closer cooperation to boost Cambodia’s tourism sector, aiming for a more competitive, sustainable and inclusive industry.
Minister Sok Soken and EuroCham chairman Tassilo Brinzer outlined their alignment during a recent meeting, focused on strengthening public-private partnerships as a key driver of growth.
Soken cited the commitment of the National Assembly (NA) to such partnerships, highlighting their role in bolstering national economic development, including tourism.
He mentioned the ministry’s “BUILD +3Ds” initiative, a strategic plan to transform the country into a leading tourism destination.
Crucial to this plan is reforming the Cambodia Tourism Board (CTB). Soken stated the need for wider private sector participation and effective partnerships to enhance the appeal of the Kingdom’s tourism offerings.
Brinzer reiterated EuroCham’s dedication to attracting European and global companies and investors to Cambodia, recognising the CTB’s vital role and pledging collaboration to tackle industry challenges.
Both parties reaffirmed their dedication to fostering a harmonious and productive partnership, propelling the nation’s tourism sector towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
Thuorn Sinan, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Cambodia chapter, commended EuroCham’s role in boosting the nation’s tourism industry.
“I believe EuroCham’s involvement in the country’s tourism sector will positively propel Cambodia’s tourism forward,” he said on February 14.
