The Cambodian embassy in South Korea has announced the permanent closure of regular passport services for Cambodian nationals living, working and studying in Korea, effective from August 26.

The service, which began on January 10, following the recommendation of Prime Minister Hun Manet, was implemented by the Ministry of Interior to assist Cambodian citizens in Korea with obtaining ordinary passports.

Since its introduction earlier this year, the embassy has served as a critical resource for these citizens.

In an official announcement on August 21, the embassy stated, "For those who have already applied, they can collect their passports according to the notification on the embassy's Facebook page. For those wishing to apply after the closure, applications must be made directly in Cambodia."

The embassy did not disclose the reasons for the closure but emphasised the importance of finalising pending applications before the service is discontinued. It encouraged citizens to stay informed through the embassy's official communications.
